What makes a great day at the races...
There are 5 must do’s when heading to the races for a great day out:
DO wear semi - comfy shoes – We all know flats are out of the question, but at least try for some worn in heels, or relatively lower wedges.
DO go with friends that you know won’t make a mess of themselves. We all love a champers on cup day but you don’t want to be one of the legless ladies by the end – not classy.
DO set yourself a limit on betting money, the races are about a great social day out and a little flutter. We’ve all had those days when you keep thinking one more, one more… but there goes the taxi ride home!
DO keep hydrated. Especially in the warmer months the races can be a killer for dehydration, getting caught up in the moment after too many wines and too much sun won’t end well.
DO book a marquee. While some can be a bit pricey they are so, so worth the money. You’ll not only have a seat to rest those sore feet, but some even come with their own toilets (nothing worse then the public ones). They are also a great way to socialise and give you a rest from the sun. Most marquees are also in sectioned off areas, which means that most drunken, loud and messy people won’t be in your sight!
So whatever races you decide to go to this year, remember the above tips and have a great day!
